Job Overview:
The Accountant Masheda Palms resort will be responsible for managing and overseeing the financial transactions and reporting processes within the resort. This role will involve preparing and maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing accounts payable and receivable, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations, and providing financial insights to support the resort's operations. The Accountant will collaborate with various departments to ensure that financial procedures are followed and will support senior management in making informed decisions based on financial data.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Recordkeeping & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for the resort, ensuring all transactions (e.g., income, expenses, assets, liabilities) are properly recorded in the accounting system.
- Prepare and manage the resort’s monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and accounts payable/receivable to ensure accuracy and prevent discrepancies.
- Assist in preparing financial forecasts and budgets for the resort, providing data to senior management as needed.
2. Accounts Payable & Receivable:
- Manage the accounts payable process, ensuring that all invoices are received, verified, and paid in a timely manner.
- Handle accounts receivable, including monitoring outstanding payments, issuing invoices, and following up with clients or departments to ensure timely payment.
- Maintain accurate records of all payments and receipts, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with company policies.
3. Cash Management:
- Oversee the resort’s cash flow, ensuring that funds are available to meet operational needs.
- Prepare and manage cash flow projections to ensure there is enough liquidity for day-to-day operations.
- Monitor and manage petty cash, ensuring proper handling and documentation of petty cash transactions.
4. Tax & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including sales tax, income tax, and other applicable taxes.
- Prepare and file timely tax returns (e.g., VAT, payroll taxes) in accordance with local laws.
- Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process and ensure compliance with all financial regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and accounting standards relevant to the resort industry.
5. Cost Control & Budgeting:
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of the resort’s budget, working with department heads to track departmental expenditures and ensure that budgets are adhered to.
- Analyze and report on variances between actual financial performance and budgeted figures, providing insights and recommendations to management for cost control and efficiency improvements.
- Provide regular financial analysis to identify trends, areas for cost reduction, and opportunities for increasing profitability.
6. Internal Controls & Procedures:
- Ensure that the resort follows proper accounting procedures and internal controls to safeguard financial assets and prevent fraud.
- Review and implement financial policies and procedures to improve the accuracy and efficiency of financial operations.
- Conduct regular internal audits to verify the accuracy of financial data and ensure compliance with company policies.
7. Payroll Administration:
- Assist with payroll processing, ensuring that all employee compensation (wages, bonuses, benefits) is accurate and paid on time.
- Ensure compliance with payroll-related taxes and deductions, maintaining accurate records for each employee.
- Provide support in preparing employee benefit reports, managing deductions, and handling any payroll-related queries.
8. Financial Analysis & Reporting:
- Provide financial analysis and performance reports to the senior management team to aid in decision-making.
- Prepare ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as requested, such as profitability analyses for new services or cost analysis for specific departments.
- Help identify financial trends and areas of concern that may impact the resort’s operations or profitability.
9. Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with the resort’s operational departments (e.g., sales, F&B, front desk) to ensure that financial data is accurate and current, and that financial objectives are aligned with business goals.
- Provide support to department heads with financial inquiries and offer guidance on managing budgets and financial performance.
- Collaborate with senior management in long-term financial planning and strategy development for the resort.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or CMA (Certified Management Accountant) is a plus but not required.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a hospitality or resort setting.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, tax laws, and financial reporting.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Oracle, etc.) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in financial recordkeeping.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Knowledge of hospitality industry-specific accounting issues (e.g., room revenue recognition, cost of goods sold, F&B operations) is an advantage.

- Occasional lifting of files or financial records (up to 5kgs).
