Job Description/Requirements
- Develop and maintain performance dashboards and scorecards on PowerBi, Excel and/other BI tools and systems.
- Build efficient and well documented methods for easy, repeatable extraction and cleaning of primary and secondary data sources.
- Analyse data, interpret results and trends, using statistical techniques where appropriate.
- Translate data and analytics into non-technical insights to help War Child teams make well-informed decisions based on practical evidence.
- Generate high quality formal analytical reports on key quality of care framework indicators such as attendance, competency and fidelity.
- Develop and implement an information management strategy for our programming, in support of the organization’s Global MEAL Framework and strategic objectives and aligned with the organisation's Information Management Policy (owned by the IT team).
- Conduct regular data quality assessments and verification processes on the various data collection platforms to ensure data integrity and reliability.
- Generate regular and ad-hoc reports, dashboards, and other data visualizations to facilitate decision-making at various levels, ensuring outputs cater for different audiences.
- Identify knowledge gaps in data analysis and provide capacity strengthening and mentorship to staff and partners.
- Develop and deliver learning modules and workshops on data collection, analysis, and reporting techniques.
- Contribute to the development and operationalisation of the organizational Data Strategy, Global MEAL Framework (GMF) and related global tools for data collection and analysis.
- Support EBM implementation and scaling information sharing and ensure War Child’s methods & internal standards remain up to date.
- Support countries, regional and Shared Platform colleagues to apply and adhere to the Data Strategy and other relevant tools, where relevant.
- Focal person to advise on data protection issues for EBM implementation and scaling.
- Provide technical assistance, including onboarding, to strategic scaling partners on the implementation of the quality of Care Framework to ensure results management, accountability, and evidence building.
- Support strategic and scaling partners with their processes for data collection, compilation, analysis, and use of data to orient programming.
- Provide effective EBMs data analysis and insights (including support for proposal development, log frame design, developing theories of change etc) to the PQ and Scaling Teams.
- Contribute to PQ’s strategic processes, annual plans, proposals, reports and program evaluations. , collaborating other teams where needed.
- Collaborate with War Child’s Regional and Country offices, where relevant, to ensure sound data management processes that allow for consolidated EBM data analysis in support of EBMs continuous improvement and adaptation processes.
- Contribute to the development of organizational wide EBM data governance and data analysis guidance documents.
- Ensure that data is brought together and findings from across EBM various implementers form a coherent basis for analysis of impact which promotes EBM learning and strategy development for the whole organisation.
- Communicate top level learning / analysis reports and monitoring data to ensure that management is able to make informed decisions on a timely basis to scale up and face operational challenges.
- Strengthen capabilities within the implementation and scaling teams, technical colleagues and other relevant colleagues across the organisation through organising and developing various learning activities.
- Provide support and capacity strengthening to strategic scaling partners in-line with War Child’s localisation goals and priorities.
- Represent War Child and participate in global/ inter-agency networks and bodies that are relevant to the achievement of War Child’s mission and contribute to the implementation of their work plans.
- Collaborate with R&D, Scaling and regional/ Country Office colleagues to strengthen alignment and value of various forms of data collection (evidence base, impact, reach).
- Contribute to the MEAL and Program Quality Team's implementation of common plans and strengthening of programme quality in MEAL.
- Academic Background: Relevant education background in Computer Science, Data Analysis/Data Science or social sciences
- Experience: At least 5 years of relevant work experience in data analytics, data visualisation and/or data management, of which at least 3 years significant experience of working in a (post) conflict setting and with the international development and humanitarian sectors.
- System Implementation: Experience implementing processes and systems, especially Power BI.
- Technical Skills: Advanced Power BI and PowerQuery skills.
- Analytical Skills: Advanced statistical analysis through languages like R, MATLABDAX, Python or other
- Data Modelling: Experience with Data modelling in Power BI/Tableau.
- Data Security and Privacy: Knowledge of data security and privacy practices when dealing with sensitive information.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Excel, Word)
- Advisory and Communication Skills: Strong advisory and communication skills, with a strategic thinking mindset.
- Remote Communication and Facilitation: Strong remote and presential coordination skills (e.g., coordination of working groups, networks, communities of practice), as well as facilitation skills.
- Proven solid written and verbal communication skills, able to share knowledge, best practices and experience.
- Children’s Right: Sound knowledge and understanding of children's rights.
- Languages: Fluency in English, including strong written skills and the ability to communicate complex information in an effective way.
- Master's level education.
- Good working knowledge of Spanish, French or Arabic.
- Knowledge of localisation and inclusion issues and practices in humanitarian aid and development sectors.
- Knowledge of geopolitical trends and conflicts in the world.
- Location: We work with global teams with team members being based in different locations. War Child is based in Afghanistan, Burundi, the Central African Republic, Colombia, DR Congo, Germany, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, the occupied Palestinian territory, South Sudan, Sweden, Syria, Uganda, Ukraine and Yemen. Preference is given to applicants who reside and have valid working permits. War Child does not offer relocation.
