Job Description/Requirements

Requirements:

  • Experience: At least 7 years of experience at a senior associate level.
  • Specialisation: Must be a specialist in labour relations, ideally coming from a reputable legal firm.
  • Background: Preferably has dealt with labour relations extensively and can build experience in HR.
  • Not HR: Individuals moving directly from law firms to HR are often diluted. This role requires someone with a pure legal background.


Responsibilities:

  • To support HR Director with labour relations.
  • Handling disciplinary actions, documentation, union-related issues, and governance.
  • Must have friends in the industrial court and a proven track record of winning cases.
  • Responsible for teaching the Country Managing Team (CMT) and Greater Management Team (GMT) on labour laws and how to conduct disciplinary procedures.
  • Acts like an in-house advisor on labour law matters.


Skills Required:

    • Strong stakeholder management
    • Good problem-solving and decision-making abilities
    • Excellent conflict and complaint resolution skills


Attributes: Should be able to handle various conflict and complaint resolutions as any large company has some.

  • Business Acumen: Not as crucial for this role.
  • Salary Range: 12-15 million UGX.
  • Confidentiality: The role is confidential and sensitive, requiring discretion.
  • Must be LDC
