Job Purpose:

The Environmental Health Officer will be responsible for assessing, monitoring, and managing environmental health issues. This role involves conducting inspections, developing policies, and providing guidance to ensure compliance with environmental health regulations and standards.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct inspections and assessments of facilities, land, and water to ensure compliance with environmental health regulations.
  • Collect and analyze environmental samples (e.g., air, water, soil) to identify potential hazards.
  • Develop and implement environmental health policies and programs.
  • Educate and advise clients and stakeholders on best practices for environmental health and safety.
  • Investigate environmental health complaints and incidents, providing recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation on findings and compliance status.
  • Collaborate with other professionals, agencies, and organizations to address environmental health issues.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and advancements in environmental health practices.


Candidate Specifications:

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Registered Environmental Health Specialist) are a plus.


Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in environmental health or related fields.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and inspections is advantageous.


Critical Skills Required:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and environmental assessment tools.
  • Knowledge of environmental health regulations and standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
