Job Description
Our client, is into agricultural export business and targets the growing market in Europe and other parts of the world. The client is looking for a Senior Human Resource Manager to undertake all roles related to Human Resource Management at the client’s farm.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the performance appraisal process, ensuring fair and consistent evaluations;
- Develop and implement performance improvement plans to address underperformance;
- Create strategies to enhance staff retention and motivation, focusing on employee engagement and satisfaction;
- Manage the full recruitment cycle, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and onboarding;
- Collaborate with department heads to identify staffing needs and create workforce planning strategies;
- Promote a diverse and inclusive workplace by ensuring equal opportunities in recruitment;
- Identify training needs across the organization and develop comprehensive training Programs;
- Coordinate and facilitate staff training sessions and workshops;
- Monitor the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary improvements;
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations issues, addressing grievances and facilitating conflict resolution;
- Promote a positive workplace culture through open communication and feedback mechanisms;
- Promote a diverse and inclusive workplace by ensuring equal opportunities in recruitment;
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulations, keeping the company informed of any changes;
- Develop and update HR policies and procedures to align with legal requirements and best practices;
- Conduct regular audits of HR practices to ensure compliance and address any gaps;
- Lead, manage, and mentor the HR team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment;
- Set clear objectives for HR team members and conduct regular performance reviews;
- Facilitate professional development opportunities for HR staff;
- Undertake additional tasks related to farm operations as assigned, adapting HR strategies to meet specific needs;

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Industrial Psychology, or a related field; a Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., CIPD, SHRM) is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of HR management experience, preferably in the agricultural sector.
- Strong knowledge of labor laws and HR best practices in Uganda.
- Proven experience in performance management, recruitment, training, and employee relations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Proficient in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
