Our client, a flower farm that specializes in producing and exporting high-quality roses in a variety of colors to the European market is looking for a Human Resource Manager to undertake all roles related to Human Resources at our client’s premises.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the performance appraisal process, ensuring fair and consistent evaluations.
- Develop and implement performance improvement plans to address underperformance.
- Create strategies to enhance staff retention and motivation, focusing on employee engagement and satisfaction.
- Manage the full recruitment cycle, including job postings, candidate screening, interviewing, and onboarding.
- Collaborate with department heads to identify staffing needs and create workforce planning strategies.
- Promote a diverse and inclusive workplace by ensuring equal opportunities in recruitment.
- Identify training needs across the organization and develop comprehensive training programs.
- Coordinate and facilitate staff training sessions and workshops.
- Monitor the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary improvements.
- Ensure compliance with local labor laws and regulations, keeping the company informed of any changes.
- Develop and update HR policies and procedures to align with legal requirements and best practices.
- Conduct regular audits of HR practices to ensure compliance and address any gaps.
- Lead, manage, and mentor the HR team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- Set clear objectives for HR team members and conduct regular performance reviews.
- Facilitate professional development opportunities for HR staff.
- Undertake additional tasks related to farm operations as assigned, adapting HR strategies to meet specific needs.

Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource, Industrial Psychology, or a related field; a Master’s degree or HR certification (e.g., CIPD, SHRM) is a plus.
- Minimum of 5 years of HR management experience, preferably in the agricultural sector.
- Strong knowledge of labour laws and HR best practices in Uganda.
- Proven experience in performance management, recruitment, training, and employee relations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and build strong relationships across all levels of the organization.
- Proficient in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite.
