Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable management trainee in the company tea fields to join our team, responsible for planning, implementing of tea field activities in line with organization strategy and business plan, developing strategies for the implementation and compliance to the standards, Managing the performance development, and welfare of staff at the estate in line with HR Policies. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of safety.

Job Purpose

The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of safety.
Company background
Uganda Tea Corporation has been a leading tea producer and exporter in Uganda for the last 20 years. It has three estates with its headquarters at Kasaku near Lugazi. Kasaku is about 48km from Kampala and 40km from Jinja.
Job Identification
- Duty station: Kasaku, Salama, Luwala Estates

- Reporting to: Estate Manager
Job specification
- Plan, draw schedules, and coordinate field operations in line with quality standard requirements.
- Coordinate and oversee tea planting, field maintenance and plucking in line with the company standards and plans.
- Manage personnel, their performance, development, and welfare in the division in line with HR policies, Labour Union terms and conditions.
- Maintain, account for, safeguard, and monitor the utilization of the company’s assets and manage inventory/storage.
- Implement and monitor the standards (both international and company standards) of production at the estates.
- Prepare and report on the division’s annual plans and budgets in line with the field department plan.
- Inspect plucked green leaf in the field to ensure good quality, maximize production of green leaf in the fields by ensuring volumes are achieved.
- Plucking table maintenance at the right height during plucking for better results.
- Supervise the weighing and recording of green leaf at the estate.
- Supervising general workers to ensure discipline is maintained.
- Ensure manual, chemical weeding, plucking, pruning and fertilizer application is properly done,
- Proper record keeping through recording chemical accountabilities, recording and keeping field weeding round reports, record and keep field production reports.
- Occupational health and safety through ensuring that workers wear appropriate personal protective equipment’s (PPEs) at all times.
- Any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.
Candidate specification
Educational requirements: At least diploma in crop husbandry
Work experience: No experience is required.
Required skills
Strong communication skills, ability to work independently as part of a team, should have a fair
command of the English language, interpersonal skills, public relations skills, leadership skills.
