Job Summary:

The Partnerships and Grants Officer will play a critical role in securing funding and building strategic partnerships to support the organization’s mission and programs. The officer will be responsible for identifying funding opportunities, writing grant proposals, managing donor relationships, and fostering collaborations with stakeholders. This role requires excellent communication, research, and organizational skills, as well as a passion for youth development.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Fundraising and Grant Management:

  • Research and identify potential grant opportunities from governments, foundations, corporations, and international organizations.
  • Develop and write high-quality grant proposals, concept notes, and reports tailored to donor requirements.
  • Maintain a grants calendar to track application deadlines, reporting requirements, and donor communications.
  • Ensure compliance with grant terms and conditions and prepare timely reports for donors.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of funded projects and provide updates to donors.

2. Partnership Development:

  • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential partners, including NGOs, government agencies, private sector entities, and community organizations.
  • Develop and implement partnership strategies to support organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with partners to design and implement joint programs and initiatives.
  • Represent the organization at meetings, conferences, and networking events to promote partnerships.


3. Donor Relations:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential donors.
  • Acknowledge and recognize donor contributions through appropriate channels.
  • Organize donor engagement activities, such as site visits and events, to showcase the impact of their support.

4. Strategic Planning and Reporting:

  • Contribute to the development of the organization’s fundraising strategy.
  • Prepare regular reports on fundraising activities, partnerships, and grant performance for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze trends in fundraising and partnership development to inform decision-making.

5. Organizational Support:

  • Collaborate with program teams to gather information and data for proposals and reports.
  • Support the organization’s communication efforts by providing content for newsletters, social media, and websites.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Program Manager.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, International Development, Social works or Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in fundraising, grant writing, or partnership development, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Proven track record of successfully securing grants and managing donor relationships.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to create compelling proposals and reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of youth development, education, or community empowerment programs is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
