Job Description/Requirements

Job purpose:

To grow the Payroll business in terms of assets (loans) and liabilities (customer deposits), customer base and income through personal selling activities within existing customer portfolio and getting new ones within the Bank’s target markets. Effective relationship management resulting in optimisation of customer satisfaction, retention and wallet share through multiple marketing solutions (cross-selling) from the entire range of the bank’s products and services is critical.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in any field.
  • Relevant professional qualifications in microfinance, banking, finance or marketing provide added advantage.
  • Minimum of One (01) Year hands on experience in Payroll lending, microfinance, banking.
  • Proficiency in use of MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge on HCM / PCA coding process is a MUST.
  • Relevant sales experience.
  • Expertise in MIS platforms

Personal skills and abilities

  • Strong Payroll sales skills to prospect and close business deals.
  • Relationship Management skills to effectively perform Relationship Management activities/tasks in a manner that consistently achieves high quality Payroll standards or benchmarks.
  • Interpersonal skills to develop and maintain Payroll business networks and to effectively communicate with other Payroll stakeholders who impact performance.
  • Strategic awareness to contribute to the strategy of growing the Payroll assets (loans) and liabilities’ (deposits) position of the bank.
  • Knowledge and effective application of all relevant banking policies, processes, procedures and guidelines to consistently achieve required Payroll compliance standards or benchmarks.
  • Self-empowerment to enable development of open communication, teamwork and trust that are needed to support performance and customer-service oriented culture in Payroll.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.



  1. Business growth (Sales management and Customer satisfaction)

    1. Working hand in hand with the payroll manager in developing, supervise and control implementation of the Payroll products growth strategy and outreach plans in line with the approved budget and timelines
    2. Responsible for the growth of Assets and liabilities in the Payroll Portfolio organization wide, making sure growth and quality targets are achieved
    3. Monitor performance of the Payroll portfolio making sure key risks are mitigated
    4. Drive personal sales activities targeting potential customers (Districts, municipalities, schools, ministries, government departments and entities, etc.)
    5. To conduct visits to existing and potential customers/employers in order to understand customer expectations, complaints and areas of improvement at the branch.
    6. To ensure that all Payroll lending staff have a clear understanding, acceptance and are able to communicate the group loans policies and procedures
    7. Ensure that all Payroll sales executives have a clear knowledge and understanding of the Payroll products and services
    8. Responsible for the performance management of the payroll sales executives through working directly with the Branch Managers/Supervisors to make sure individual performance targets of sales executives are met and remedial steps taken if performance targets are not met.
  1. Business Development

    1. Responsible for the development of Payroll products that will contribute to the achievement of the overall growth of the portfolio
  1. Training and Staff Development

    1. Develop Training materials for Payroll lending at the branch.
    2. Facilitate training of staff on Payroll lending credit
  1. Planning reporting and other duties

    1. Provide daily, weekly and monthly reports to the Payroll loans Manager on the performance of the product and key issues that require the attention of management
    2. Develop annual growth strategies and expansion plans based on the market potential and the banks overall strategic plan.
    3. Participate in the development of annual budgets for the product
