Job Summary:
Uganda Women’s Effort to Save Orphans (UWESO) is seeking the services of a highly self-driven, motivated, and result-oriented Program and Administrative Assistant to support her USAID-funded Orphans and other Vulnerable Children, North East Activity (OVC-NEA) team. The successful candidate will support the District Program Officer by providing programmatic and administrative support to ensure the efficient implementation of program activities.
Key roles and responsibilities:
Planning and Implementation
- Support program planning, implementing, and monitoring of OVC initiatives at community and facility level
- Assist in developing and updating work plans, budgets and reports.
- Assist in coordinating the OVC transition activities, events, and meetings
- Coordinate the OVC beneficiary household graduation processes
- Support case workers in developing and updating case plans
- Support training and capacity-building initiatives for caseworkers (social worker/facility case workers/para-social worker)
- Document Activity success stories, Lessons learnt and best practices
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Collect, record, review and analyse OVC data for program beneficiaries
- Monitor Activity progress and provide feedback to stakeholders
- Generate reports for OVC Activity monitoring
Collaboration and coordination
- Liaise with government agencies, NGOs, and stakeholders to foster linkages for OVC beneficiaries
- Support communication between stakeholders, partners and beneficiaries
- Participate in coordination meetings at district and lower level government levels.
- Compile and share line lists of graduated OVC household beneficiaries with local government to facilitate linkages to other partners.
Administration
- Manage and maintain OVC Activity case files and documents
- Maintain inventory of Activity Assets and ensure effective management of Activity supplies, materials and other resources
- Assist in budgeting, tracking finances, providing accountabilities and preparing reports;
- Coordinate travel arrangements, fleet management, logistics and procurements
- Provide reception and customer services
- Assist in putting together funds requisitions, staff monthly reports, and any other supporting documents and submit them in a timely manner to the Finance office for review and payment.
- Assist in fuel management.
- Oversees the general cleanliness and functionality of the office.
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum of a Diploma in Social Work and Social Administration, Development Studies, Adult and Community Education, Public Health or any other related field.
- 1 year experience in planning, implementing and monitoring OVC programs.

- Computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel)
- Motorcycle riding skills
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness
- Analytical skills
- Able to speak the local language – Ngakarimojong (a must).
- Experience working with OVC preferably in an HIV care context.
