We are seeking to hire motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Project Coordinator. The ideal candidate will lead the efficient implementation and coordination of initiatives designed to empower women and youth within the fisheries and aquaculture value chains across select African countries, including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, DRC, and Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Implementation and Oversight:
Lead and monitor the day-to-day implementation of project activities, ensuring all actions align with project objectives and timelines. includes actively coordinating efforts across departments, addressing challenges as they arise, and adjusting plans to stay on track.
Regularly review project progress against milestones, ensuring timely adjustments to enhance project effectiveness and compliance with donor requirements.
2. Team Supervision:
Directly oversee the Market Support Officers/Field Officers, offering continuous support, guidance, and supervision.
Ensure team members are adequately equipped with necessary resources, training, and mentorship to succeed in their roles.
Foster a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and capacity building, creating opportunities for skill enhancement within the team.
3. Stakeholder Engagement:
Build and sustain meaningful relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including local communities, government agencies, NGOs, trade organizations, and private sector partners.
Serve as the primary liaison to ensure stakeholder needs and inputs are integrated into project planning and execution.
Actively represent the project in stakeholder meetings, promoting the program’s objectives and fostering partnerships that support women and youth in fisheries and aquaculture.
4. Strategic Planning and Reporting:
Lead the development and execution of strategies that enhance market linkages, cross-border trade, and sustainable growth.
Identify and implement approaches to bolster market access and economic inclusion for women and youth.
Prepare comprehensive, data-driven reports for both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring they receive regular updates on project milestones, progress, and areas needing attention.
5. Resource Allocation and Budget Management:
Oversee the effective allocation of project resources, ensuring that financial and material assets are managed within budgetary constraints. Monitor expenses, approve expenditures, and conduct periodic reviews to maximize resource utilization. Implement cost-saving measures and work closely with the finance team to ensure compliance with financial guidelines and efficient use of project funds.
6. Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E):
Design and implement an M&E framework that measures project impact, success, and areas for improvement. Regularly collect, analyze, and report data on project indicators, making necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
Use M&E findings to inform decision-making, document best practices, and ensure the project achieves its intended objectives with measurable impact on target beneficiaries.
7. Advocacy and Policy Support:
Engage with policy stakeholders to promote regulations and policies that favor women and youth empowerment in fisheries and cross-border trade.
Advocate for policy improvements at local, regional, and national levels that align with project goals.
Collaborate with government representatives and advocacy groups to ensure that project beneficiaries receive the support needed to access resources and market opportunities.
8. Risk Management:
Identify, assess, and address project risks to minimize disruptions and enhance project resilience.
Work closely with the Project Manager to implement risk mitigation strategies, conduct risk assessments, and adjust project plans as needed to overcome obstacles.
Ensure that all risk management practices are documented, reviewed, and updated regularly.
9. Resource Mobilization:
Participate in the development of context-based concept notes and proposals that secure additional funding and resources for project sustainability and expansion.
Collaborate with the fundraising team to develop and maintain networks with potential donors, key partners, and technical agencies.
Support the exploration of new funding avenues and partnerships to advance project goals and promote long-term impact.
Engage in strategic planning sessions with the fundraising team to assess funding needs,
identify funding gaps and align resource mobilization activities with project objectives and resource requirements.
Key Performance Indicators
The role holder will be assessed on:
Project Milestones: Timely achievement of project milestones and objectives.
Budget Compliance: Effective management and utilization of allocated resources.
Team Effectiveness: Performance and engagement levels of Market Support /Field
Officers.Stakeholder Satisfaction: Positive feedback from project stakeholders and partners.
- Impact Measurement: Quantifiable outcomes aligning with project goals.
Required Qualification
A bachelor’s degree in project management, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field from a recognized university; a master’s degree is an added advantage.
A minimum of five (5) years of experience in project coordination, ideally within the agriculture or fisheries sectors.
Demonstrable experience in managing and supervising teams across multi-stakeholder projects.
Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations.
Experience in preparing funding proposals, managing project budgets, and ensuring
financial compliance with donor requirements.
