Job Description/Requirements
Job Purpose: The Technical Shift Lead will be responsible for ensuring that the daily production plan is 100% adhered to through proper management of people, equipment, time, materials & processes.
1. Production plan execution
· Ensure machine operators adhere to the production plan.
· Timely escalation of challenges to the Maintenance Controller that may lead to production plan non-adherence.
· Work closely with other stakeholders like QA, Engineering & Inventory to resolve constraints that may affect target attainment.
2. Materials management
· Ensure 5S standards & GMPs are adhered to & continuous performance improvement should be registered when audited.
· Ensure all process documents are well filled by Machine operators & batch management guidelines adhered too.
· Ensure Materials reconciliations and accountability are done at shift end & unused PM returned to the PM holding locations.
· Report on material wastages, conduct RCA & develop CAPA to reduce wastage.
3. Performance management
· Lead daily Gemba meetings for purposes of daily performance review.
· Assess training needs of Machine Operators & come up with training plans.
· Ensure Machine Operators adhere to approved attendance & leave schedules.
· Ensure all production reports are updated on time and with clear reasons where targets have not been attained.
· Raise at least one innovation per month that is geared towards process performance improvement.
· Participate in problem solving sessions and identification of CIPs.
· Analyze the 6 big losses that affect OEE, conduct RCA come up with CAPA in liaison with the CII.
· Participate in reviewing processes, development & updating of production documentation & records as per ISO 9001:2025 QMS regulatory standards.
4. Asset care
· Coordinate and supervise autonomous maintenance (AM) activities performed by Machine Operators.
· Develop one-point lessons for Machine Operators, this can be done in liaison with the Continuous improvement in-charge, Project coordinator and Maintenance Controller.
· Ensure Machine Operators have the right tools for simple adjustments and repairs. These should also be well managed by following the tools policy.
5. Quality Control
· Ensure line clearance before and at the end of the shift is done by Machine operator.
· Ensure all in-process product checks are done by Machine operators. E.g. PM quality, printed matter & weight checks, product formation and Color.
· Shall ensure timely closure of all non-conformities raised by QA.
6. Health & safety
· Report all unsafe acts, unsafe behaviors, near misses and any other safety related incident.
· Log at least one JSO per month
· Ensure all new team members are trained on safety and issued with proper PPE
· Responsible for enforcing PPE usage and compliance in the production area
· Participate in OHS investigations, hazard identification & risk assessments when called upon.
Knowledge.
· Plastics moulding process technologies like IMM, ISBM and IBM
· Advanced experience with MS Office
. Commercially astute with understanding of key commercial drivers
Minimum Qualification Requirements:
· Hold a diploma in mechanical and manufacturing, Industrial engineering and management, Electrical, Chemistry, Physics or any engineering related course.
· Knowledge in SAP
. Awareness in occupational health & safety
. 2 years relevant experience in FMCG Industry preferably in a similar role.
