Training Manager (Uganda)

Reporting to: Head of Human Resources

Based: Kampala, Uganda

Employees: 6 local offices with +4,200 employees based at various client sites

We are a leading provider of private security solutions,offering tailored services including manned guarding, electronic security systems, alarm response,and risk management across six continents. At G4S Uganda, a Training Manager will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and evaluation of training programs for both frontline employees and HQ Staff to enhance employee skills and performance, aligning training with organizational goals, and managing training budgets and resources.


Here's a more detailed breakdown of the responsibilities:


Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and analyze the training needs of employees and the organization to ensure that training programs are relevant and effective.
  • Develop and implement training programs, including induction training for new hires, on-the-job training, and other specialized training initiatives.
  • Oversee the delivery of training programs, ensuring that they are conducted effectively and efficiently.
  • Manage the training budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and that training programs are cost-effective.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on training outcomes and operational improvements.
  • Work with other departments, such as Human Resources and Operations, to ensure that training programs are aligned with organizational goals.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest training methodologies and technologies.
  • Mentor and coach training officers and other staff involved in training delivery.
  • Establish and track KPIs to measure training effectiveness and employee skill development.
  • Compile and manage operational training schedules.
  • Manage the delivery of training interventions through Training Officers.
  • Manage and plan induction training for all new starters.
  • Manage on-the-job training planning and implementation through Training officers


What is Essential:

  • A Bachelors degree from any recognisable University is mandatory.
  • At least 5 years of work experience as a training manager in large organisations.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Project management and budgeting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Understanding of adult learning principles and effective training methods.
  • Experience in designing training programmes, delivery and leadership.
